What an exciting day, with tremendous competition, fast races and so many teammates, family, friends and alumni cheering on BH! The day itself was cloudy, calm and cool and the puddles from last week had dried up, lending to a fast course.  Jared and John were the first BH runners – and the first Section 2 runners –  across the finish in 12th (7 pts) and 15th place (9 pts), followed by Patrick in 29th (14 pts), Josh in 65th (28 pts) and Trevor in 73rd (33 pts), with Karsten (53 pts) and Kevin (57 pts) providing strong support. The determination and focus you all showed was tremendous. You worked so hard for this, ran strong, fast and smart, and did your very best. We are all extremely proud of you on your accomplishments.

Congratulations also to Emily D on representing BH and Section 2, finishing 38th overall with lots of BH cheering right alongside.

Section 2 Championships – Friday, November 1st
Queensbury High School

The rain stopped, temperatures rose into the 60’s and the wind picked up a bit as the boys took to the starting line at 12:30.  When they crossed the finish line it was John with a 2nd place finish, Jared 3rd,  Patrick 5th, Trevor 10th and Josh 12th, all lending to a first place finish for the team! They are off to States!! Congratulations!

Later in the afternoon, the girls’ team worked hard as a pack, but the team with the home course advantage proved just a little bit too much to overcome.  You all did so well under some tough circumstances, and we are so proud of you. Congratulations to Janelle on qualifying for States, although injuries will prevent her from attending. Injuries will also prevent next-in-line Eva from going, so it’ll be Emily D heading to States to represent BH and Section 2!

Suburban Council Championships – Saturday, October 26th
Saratoga Spa State Park

All BH-BL teams came together on a brisk autumn day for the last regular season XC meet.

The Frosh Girls had all 7 runners finish in the top 20,  contributing to the 2nd place team finish.  The Frosh Boys held the top 3 spots and finished in 1st place.  Outstanding! We look forward to seeing all of you, on both teams, continue to run in future years.

The JV Girls had strong competition but prevailed for a 1st place finish by one point, with all 7 runners in the top 15. The JV Boys faced several tough teams but lots of great efforts placed them in a strong 2nd.  Excellent!

For the Varsity teams, the Girls were 2nd and the Boys 3rd out of all 12 very competitive Suburban teams.

Congratulations to all the runners for all that you accomplished!

McQuaid Invitational – Saturday, September 28th
Genessee Valley Park, Rochester, NY 14623

The trip to McQuaid is always exciting and this year was no exception! With a dry course and a nice day, albeit a little warm later on, the races were fast, with great competition.

The BH girls’ teams were right on top, winning all three of their races!  In the Girls’ Sophomore race Skylar S was first across the line by a large margin, followed by Kaila, Lindsay, Maddy and Lily, Monica and Allyn all in the top 20. For the JV Girls’ it was all maroon up front as BH completed with a sweep!  Sarah K crossed first, with Mary, Natalie, Stephanie and Josette rounding out the top 5 spots. Congratulations! The Varsity girls’ had no one on the podium for the top 10 but Eva, Jordan, Emily, Marina and Alexis filled positions 11 to 23, with Allie and Erika nearby, for an impressive win over 16 other teams. Congratulations girls!

For the boys’ races it was matching results as both the JV and Varsity teams  came in third behind the same two very competitive teams.  In the JV race it was an exciting final 400 as Robert K sprinted to an 8th place finish, followed by Michael M, Karsten, Sam and Michael B in the top 40.  The Varsity boy’s set off on a fast pace, finishing a strong 3rd of 19 teams, 29 points from the top. John turned in an impressive 6th place finish, with Jared (15th) and Patrick (17th) in the top 20, followed by Josh (34th) and Trevor (55th), and Kevin and Jack M running strong.

Baldwinsville Invitational (Boys) – Saturday, September 21st
Durgee Junior High School, 29 East Oneida St, Baldwinsville NY 13027

The course and weather was challenging at times but it was full speed ahead for the boys teams and lots of really good race times.  Cloudy weather and temperatures around 70 met the JV teams.  In the ‘A’ race, Shawn lead the team to an overall 4th place team finish, with the pack of Gavin, Malcolm, Sam and Jordan close behind. In the ‘B’ race Michael M challenged for the front to come in 2nd. Way to go Michael! Michael B, Luke, Rob B, Jack T, Reed and Bobby were all in the top 20 for a 2nd place team finish. Fantastic!

There was hope that the impending rain front would hold off a little longer but it didn’t. The rains came steadily about 20 minutes before the Varsity race, and added to the mud and slippery conditions.  It didn’t pose much of a problem for the team though as they came out with a 2nd place finish, only 8 points behind Clarence in a fast-paced race.  John lead the team with a 3rd place finish, Jared 4th and Patrick 8th, followed in 27th by Trevor, Josh and Kevin in a pack, and Jack M close behind.  A great race to cap off a really exciting day!

Guilderland Invitational (Boys) – Saturday, September 7th
Tawasentha Town Park

It was a cool morning as the Freshman boys led off the teams, coming in 5th overall with only one point separating the 3rd through 5th place teams. The JV team came in a strong 3rd, led by Shawn, Gavin and the pack of Malcolm, Karsten, Sam and Robert. As the day turned warm and sunny the Varsity boys overcame a rare restart and took home 2nd, trailing Collegiate by only 3 points. A very good day!
